Post Mortem

Describe the project and your role?

The project was called the Virus and it’s a Puzzle game about a laid off Astronaut named Bob now works as a security guard at a truck depot that has been secretly working on a virus for the government. One day the virus was accidentally released and the workers at the truck depot have been turned into Orcs. Now one man must stop them to become a hero that he always wanted to be. To stop them he must collect all the chemical vials to create a cure to stop the virus, and because if he doesn’t stop them in time he will be turned into an orc himself.

My role in the group was Level Design and Art Production but it was needed to get the project up to the epic level where we want it to be.

What went Right?

What went right was the level because it went great and I didn’t have a problem with creation of the level like any disappearing walls or vanishing floors none of that. The assets were a somewhat long tasking job but I got it done because it was need to get the project done to make a great game epic. Texturing come out pretty good I think after I got over some issues with you will find out later, but in came out good because all of them had their textures but one. The win screen works with is awesome because we had problems with the win screen in our last game, nevertheless we got it working which made us felt much better because most games need a ending because if they don’t people will get very mad and stop playing.

What went wrong?

Texturing was a little of a pain because I pulled a epic fail in forgetting to save most of my max files after unwrapping them and starting a new asset so I had to unwrap again which is not good. For some reason the camera asset for our game would not export and we don’t know why which is not epic at all.

What would you do differently?

The first thing I would do differently is to have a third person in the group would make the work load a little easier on us as a group would be epic. Remember to save “Ctrl +S” will be my friend for now on anytime I model which I should of know but I was rushing to get all the assets done so I forgot so save most of the time after unwrapping them.

LAST POST WEEK 10

Finally done! But this week I worked on the win screen and the game over screen also for the game. The timer works but unfortunately it doesn't end the game so I sad. If I have more time we would get that timer so work the right way. Other that the timer everything else came out good the item pickup works and its subtractions the list. Lastly working with Todd was pretty epic and he is a good programmer.

Week 9

This week I finished up the assets, unwrapped them and textured them also.

At this point no it will try to stay the same for now.

I had problems with the trailer texture for some reason the unwrap disappeared I was shocked because the trailer that I was working on for the game texture just was all messed up.

Most of this week was spent finishing up the main assets for the game then finishing texturing, doing the starting screen and the game over screen for the game. I modeled truck depot's assets also which is the trailer, gas pumps and the light pole for the level then I unwrapped and texture them for the game.

Today I worked on The starting screen again begin because I accidentally saved it in the c drive and forgot to save it on my Z drive which is a epic fail on my part. One of the assets in the game is having problems loading so we are taking it out of the game.

The asset placement will is done and just resizing has to be done also. The rest of the time will be to getting all the loose ends tied up to get the game ready for Saturday.
